JAI 65 - Top Picks

Hi Inkers!

Welcome back for the Just Add Ink Top Picks for Challenge 65.

I don't know about you, but I was feeling very patriotic this week as I glanced through all of the entries and read the blurbs that some of you had written about ANZAC Day (but then I must admit, I usually have a tear in my eye every time I hear the Last Post).

A huge big thank-you to everyone that entered our Just Add Mateship/Friendship Challenge. We value your participation and LOVE seeing the amazing talent out there.

The votes have come in and it appears we have three clear winners this week.

JAI 65 - Just Add Mateship/Friendship for ANZAC DAY

Hi Inkers! Welcome back to Just Add Ink on this Good Friday.

Easter is celebrated around the world but Australia and New Zealand have another important holiday on Monday 25th April to commemorate ANZAC DAY.

So What is ANZAC Day all about?

ANZAC Day is a very special day in Australian and New Zealand history. ANZAC stands for the Australia New Zealand Army Corp. and it is significant because on the 25th of April 1915, both countries were involved in a difficult battle on the shores of Gallipoli.

On that fateful day our troops landed on a beach at dawn (now called ANZAC Cove) on the Turkish peninsula . They suffered a terrible defeat but our men fought with great bravery. The battle really highlighted the character traits of mateship and sacrifice. We talk about the Anzac Spirit which was born that day and use the term as a mark of great respect. Australians and New Zealanders commemorate this day with Dawn Services and Anzac Day Marches to remember those who fought and gave their lives for their country, not only in World War 1 but in all subsequent wars.

So with ANZAC Day in mind we have a special theme challenge to ... Just Add Mateship/Friendship to your paper craft project.
